Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at info@citizenvoice.ca if you cannot find an answer to your question.

We are a professional communications firm based in Canada that conducts outreach on behalf of various organizations. If you received a call from us, it was likely for one of the following exempt purposes under the National Do Not Call List (DNCL) rules:

Market Research & Surveys: We conduct anonymous public opinion research to understand Canadian views on current events, products, or social issues. These calls are exempt from the National DNCL.

Voter Identification & Civic Engagement: During election periods or for civic outreach, we may call to verify support for a candidate, provide voting location information, or encourage voter participation.

Client Services: We may be calling on behalf of a specific business or organization (such as a charity or non-profit) with whom you have a prior relationship. The organization we are representing will always be identified at the start of the call.

We do not sell personal data. Depending on the type of call, your number was obtained through one of the following compliant methods:

  • Random Digit Dialing (RDD): For general market research and surveys, we often use computer-generated random numbers. This ensures a statistically valid cross-section of the Canadian population. In these cases, we do not have your name or personal details before the call.
  • Publicly Available Information: For political or civic outreach, we may utilize data where phone numbers are matched with publicly available address information, or from data provided by political entities authorized to collect it.
  • Client-Provided Lists: If we are calling on behalf of a specific organization (e.g., a political party, charity, or union), they have provided us with their contact list to reach their members or supporters. We use these lists strictly for that specific campaign.

We adhere to the principles of the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and industry standards for data privacy:

  • For Research & Surveys: Your responses are aggregated anonymously. We are interested in the statistical trends of the group, not your individual identity. Your personal answers are never linked to your name in our final reports.
  • For Client Calls: If we are calling on behalf of a client (e.g., a political campaign or membership drive), the information regarding your support or feedback is returned securely to that specific client. We do not share, sell, or distribute this data to third parties.

We respect the National DNCL; however, the CRTC (Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission) provides specific exemptions for certain types of calls. Market research, public opinion polls, political party outreach, and registered charities are exempt from the National DNCL. Even though these calls are exempt, we maintain our own Internal Do Not Call list as a courtesy to those who wish to opt out.

If you would prefer not to be contacted by us, simply ask the agent during the call to place you on our Internal Do Not Call list, or contact us via the form on this website.

  • Note: If you ask to be removed, we will place your number on our internal suppression list. However, this does not remove you from the lists of other separate organizations who may hire us in the future. You may need to make separate requests if you are contacted on behalf of different clients.

Yes, we offer contact centre services in multiple languages, including French, Mandarin, Cantonese, Punjabi, and Farsi.
